Cursive Text Generator

Type a name or phrase and copy it in cursive. These are Unicode script letters, so they paste into Instagram bios, TikTok names, Discord and Facebook where you cannot change the font.

Click any result or its Copy button, then paste. Letters A–Z and a–z are converted; emoji, punctuation and other scripts pass through unchanged.

How to make cursive text you can copy and paste

  1. Type or paste your text into the box. Every style updates as you type, and a sample is shown until you start.
  2. Pick a style. Cursive script is the classic thin looping hand, Bold cursive is heavier and easier to read on a phone, and the italic styles give a softer slanted look.
  3. Click Copy (or click the preview itself). The text goes to your clipboard.
  4. Paste it into your Instagram bio, TikTok name, Discord status, caption or message. It stays cursive because the letters themselves are special characters.

Nothing is uploaded. The conversion happens in your browser with a small lookup table, so it works offline once the page has loaded.

Why this is Unicode, not a font

Most apps do not let you choose a typeface for your bio or a comment. What a cursive text generator does instead is replace each ordinary letter with a different character that happens to be drawn in a script style. Unicode, the standard that assigns a number to every character, includes several complete Latin alphabets meant for mathematical notation: bold, italic, script, bold script, Fraktur, double-struck, sans-serif and monospace. Mathematicians use ℛ and 𝒮 to mean different things than R and S, so the characters exist as distinct code points.

Social media users borrowed those alphabets for style. When you copy 𝓗𝓮𝓵𝓵𝓸 you are copying five characters from the range U+1D4D0–U+1D503, not the word “Hello” with formatting attached. That is why the look survives copy and paste into places that strip formatting, and also why it has some side effects, covered below.

Cursive script vs bold script letters

The two main cursive alphabets behave a little differently. The thin Mathematical Script block has holes: eleven letters were already in Unicode as standalone symbols (for example ℋ for the Hamiltonian in physics and ℯ for the base of natural logarithms, both in the Letterlike Symbols block), so the standard reused them instead of encoding duplicates. The generator fills those holes with the correct older characters, which is why a few letters can look slightly different on some phones. Bold Script was encoded as a complete set, so it is visually more uniform.

Some cheaper generators skip the exceptions and output unassigned code points instead, which show up as blank boxes in words like “Hello” or “Emma”. This one maps every letter A–Z and a–z to an assigned character.

Where cursive text works

PlaceWorks?Notes
Instagram bio, name, captions, commentsYesThe most common use. Keep your @username plain; it only allows letters, numbers, periods and underscores.
TikTok display name and bioYesThe display name has a length limit; each styled letter is two UTF-16 units and can count double.
Facebook posts and commentsYesFacebook may block styled characters in your profile name. For bold posts see the Facebook bold text tool.
Discord nickname, status and messagesYesSome servers use bots that reset “unmentionable” nicknames, so check the server rules.
X (Twitter), Threads, BlueskyYesWorks in posts and display names. Styled words are not found by search.
Email subject lines, SMSMostlyCharacters outside the basic plane can push SMS into UCS-2 encoding, cutting the limit to 70 characters per segment.
Usernames, passwords, domain namesNoThese fields reject or normalize the characters.

Things to know before you use it

Cursive text for real handwriting projects

If you are designing something printable, like an invitation, a logo or a school handout, use an actual cursive font such as Great Vibes, Dancing Script or a licensed calligraphy face. You get proper joins between letters, kerning and ligatures, which Unicode characters cannot provide because each one is drawn separately. To turn typed text into an image that looks handwritten, try the text to handwriting converter.

Frequently asked questions

Is this a real cursive font?

No. The generator swaps each letter for a Unicode character from the Mathematical Script or Bold Script alphabet. Because the output is plain text rather than a font file, it keeps its cursive look when you paste it into apps and websites that do not let you change fonts.

Why do some cursive letters look slightly different from the rest?

Eleven script letters, B, E, F, H, I, L, M, R, e, g and o, were encoded in Unicode before the Mathematical Script block existed, so they live in the Letterlike Symbols block and come from a different font on some devices. The Bold Script alphabet has no such gaps, which is why it often looks more consistent.

Where can I paste cursive text?

Anywhere that accepts Unicode text: Instagram bios and captions, TikTok and X profiles, Facebook posts, Discord nicknames and messages, WhatsApp, YouTube comments and most games that support emoji. Username fields that allow only letters and numbers will reject it.

Do numbers turn cursive too?

No. Unicode has no script or bold script digits, so numbers and punctuation are copied unchanged. The italic and sans styles also leave digits as normal numerals.

Can screen readers read cursive text?

Poorly. Many screen readers announce each character by its Unicode name, such as mathematical script capital H, or skip it entirely. Use cursive text for short decorative touches such as a name, and keep important information in normal text.

Why does my cursive text show as boxes?

The device viewing it has no font containing those Mathematical Alphanumeric Symbols. Current versions of iOS, Android, Windows and macOS display them, but older phones, some smart TVs and a few embedded browsers show empty boxes or question marks.

Can I use this to write in cursive handwriting for school or a document?

For documents you control, such as Word or Google Docs, choose a real script font like Dancing Script or Brush Script instead. It will print cleanly and stay searchable. This generator is meant for places where you cannot pick a font.
