Random Scenario Generator

Get a story or roleplay scenario with a character, a problem and a twist, a scene prompt for art or writing, a setting to build a world around, or a tarot spread to plot with. Filter by genre and generate as many as you need.

Random scenarios for stories and roleplay

Each scenario combines a character, a situation and an optional twist with a setting from the same genre, for example: A retired detective finds a letter addressed to them, dated 50 years in the future, but the person who sent it is already dead. Setting: a night train across Europe. Genres are fantasy, science fiction, mystery, horror, historical, everyday, adventure and romance. Use them for creative-writing warm-ups, improv, tabletop session hooks or roleplay with friends.

    Random scene generator

The Scenes tab builds a visual prompt from a place, a time of day or weather, a mood and one detail to include, such as A fishing harbor in heavy fog – mysterious, with a single red umbrella. Painters and photographers use it as a daily prompt; writers use it to open a chapter.

    Random setting generator

The Settings tab picks from 70 places with a one-line description, from a railway beneath the sea and a floating city to a late-night laundromat. Filter by genre, then describe the setting using all five senses.

    Random tarot card generator

The Tarot cards tab draws from a full 78-card deck: the 22 Major Arcana (The Fool to The World) and the four suits of Wands, Cups, Swords and Pentacles, with the traditional upright and reversed keywords of the Rider–Waite tradition. Draw a single card, a past, present, future spread, or a character, conflict, outcome spread that many writers use to plot a story. The tarot tab is for storytelling, journaling and reflection; it does not predict the future.
