How Stands get their names
In JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure, Hirohiko Araki names Stands after Western music. Part 3 used tarot cards and Egyptian gods, but from Part 4 onward almost every Stand is a song, an album or a band, sometimes exactly and sometimes lightly changed. Spotting the reference is part of the fun for fans:
| Stand | Named after | Kind of reference |
|---|---|---|
| Killer Queen | “Killer Queen” by Queen | Song, used exactly |
| Crazy Diamond | “Shine On You Crazy Diamond” by Pink Floyd | Song, shortened |
| Gold Experience | The Gold Experience by Prince | Album, shortened |
| Sticky Fingers | Sticky Fingers by the Rolling Stones | Album, used exactly |
| King Crimson | King Crimson | Band |
| Stone Free | “Stone Free” by Jimi Hendrix | Song, used exactly |
This generator follows the same rule. It works from a hand-picked list of real songs, albums and bands, and every result says what inspired it. Names used by Stands in the series are left out, so every result is an original Stand for your OC. The series is still running, though, so a future chapter could use one of them.
The Stand stat card
The series rates every Stand on six stats, each graded from A (very strong) to E (very weak). The generator produces a full card, and its grades follow the Stand’s type. A close-range Stand hits hard and fast but can’t leave its user, while a long-distance Stand can scout a whole town but would lose a fistfight.
| Stat | What it measures | A means… | E means… |
|---|---|---|---|
| Power | Destructive force | Punches through walls | Can barely push a door |
| Speed | How fast it moves and acts | Faster than the eye can follow | Slower than a walking person |
| Range | How far it can go from its user | Hundreds of meters or more | A meter or two |
| Durability | How long the ability lasts, and how hard the Stand is to stop | Works for a long time, even after the user is knocked out | Fades almost at once |
| Precision | Accuracy and fine control | Can catch a bullet or perform surgery | Clumsy, hits whatever is nearby |
| Development Potential | Room to grow into a new form | Likely to evolve into a new Act or form | Already at its limit |
Stand types
| Type | How it works | Typical stats |
|---|---|---|
| Close-range | A humanoid fighter that stays within a few meters of its user | High Power and Speed, low Range |
| Long-distance | Can travel far, often to spy or strike from hiding | High Range, lower Power and Precision |
| Automatic | Follows a simple rule on its own, even when the user can’t see it | High Durability and Range, low Precision |
| Bound | Lives in or is tied to an object, place or substance | High Durability, varied Power |
| Colony | A swarm of many tiny Stands that act together | High Precision and Range, low individual Power |
How to use the Stand generator
- Choose a Stand type, or leave it on Any.
- Choose whether the name should come from a song, an album, a band, or any of them.
- Press Generate. Each Stand shows its name, what inspired it, its ability and limitation, its appearance and a six-stat card.
- Reroll until one clicks, then copy it or export your favorites as CSV, JSON or TXT. Copy link saves your settings.
Stand pictures and appearance
People often look for a Stand generator with pictures. This page doesn’t show images, and it won’t reuse official artwork. Instead, every Stand comes with a written appearance, such as a body shape, a signature motif and a color scheme, that you can sketch yourself, hand to an artist or use as a prompt for your own art. Stands in the series often carry a motif from their name, like hearts, zippers or musical notes, so the appearance line picks one that fits.
Tips for designing a great Stand
- The limitation is the best part. JoJo fights are won by clever use of rules, not raw power. Keep the catch, and think about how an enemy could exploit it.
- Tie the ability to the song. Read the lyrics or think about the title. A Stand named after a song about the sun that burns anything it touches feels right.
- Balance the stats. A Stand with all A grades is boring. Give it one clear weakness and let the user’s wits fill the gap.
- Match the Stand to the user. Stands reflect their user’s personality. A shy user with a loud, violent Stand is a story in itself.

Frequently asked questions
How are JoJo Stands named?
Most Stands from Part 4 onward are named after real songs, albums or bands, such as Killer Queen (a Queen song) or Sticky Fingers (a Rolling Stones album). This generator uses the same idea and shows the song, album or band behind each name.
What do the Stand stats mean?
Stands are graded A to E on Power, Speed, Range, Durability, Precision and Development Potential. A is very strong and E is very weak. The generator produces a full stat card that fits the Stand’s type.
Will I get a Stand from the anime or manga?
No. Names used by Stands in the series are left out, so every result is an original Stand for your OC. A future chapter could still use a name by chance.
Does the Stand generator have pictures?
It gives a written appearance for each Stand instead of images, so you can draw it yourself or use it as an art prompt. It does not use official artwork.
What Stand types are there?
The generator uses five: close-range, long-distance, automatic, bound (tied to an object or place) and colony (a swarm of small Stands). The type shapes both the ability and the stats.
Is this an official JoJo tool?
No. It is an unofficial fan tool and is not affiliated with Hirohiko Araki, Shueisha or David Production.
