How to loop a YouTube video
- Copy the video link from YouTube: the address bar on desktop, or Share → Copy link in the app.
- Paste it above and press Load video. Watch links,
youtu.beshort links, Shorts, embed links, live links and bare video IDs all work. If the link has a timestamp (&t=95or?t=1m35s) it becomes the loop start. - Loop the whole video: just leave A and B empty. When the video ends it restarts, and the loop counter goes up.
- Loop a section: type start and end times, or play the video and press Set to now at the moment you want A and again for B. Fine-tune by typing tenths of a second, such as
1:42.5. - Adjust speed if you are practising, then copy the shareable link to come back to the same loop later.
What people use a YouTube looper for
- Learning music: loop four bars of a guitar solo or a drum fill at 0.5x until your hands know it, then step the speed up to 0.75x and 1x.
- Dance and fitness: repeat a single 8-count of choreography or one exercise demo instead of scrubbing back every time.
- Language practice: loop one sentence of dialogue to shadow the pronunciation and rhythm.
- Background audio: put a rain sound, lo-fi mix, white noise or a favourite song on endless repeat for studying or sleep.
- Analysis: review a sports play, a speedrun trick or a lecture explanation frame by frame.
Accepted link formats
| Format | Example | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Watch page | youtube.com/watch?v=dQw4w9WgXcQ | Extra parameters such as list= and si= are ignored |
| Short link | youtu.be/dQw4w9WgXcQ?t=43 | From the Share button; t= sets loop start |
| Shorts | youtube.com/shorts/VIDEO_ID | Shorts already loop on YouTube; here you can loop a part |
| Embed | youtube.com/embed/VIDEO_ID?start=30&end=45 | start and end fill A and B |
| Live and mobile | youtube.com/live/VIDEO_ID, m.youtube.com/watch?v=… | Past live streams can be looped once processed |

How the looper works
The page embeds the video with YouTube’s official IFrame Player API in privacy-enhanced mode (youtube-nocookie.com), which avoids setting YouTube tracking cookies until you play. The API lets the page read the current playback time and seek. Ten times a second the page checks whether playback has reached your end point B, and if so seeks back to A. For a whole-video loop it waits for the ended event and restarts. Because it seeks rather than reloads, the loop is close to seamless, though YouTube may need a fraction of a second to buffer after a jump on slow connections. Nothing is downloaded, re-uploaded or stored, and the video’s views, ads and captions work as normal.
The shareable link is built from the video ID and your A and B times (/youtube-looper?v=ID&start=65&end=102), so no account or server storage is needed.
Limits and YouTube’s terms
- Embedding disabled: creators and labels can block embedded playback. You will see “Video unavailable” or error 101/150; watch those on youtube.com.
- Private, age-restricted and members-only videos do not play in embeds.
- Autoplay: browsers may block autoplay with sound until you interact with the page, so tap play if nothing starts.
- Background play: on phones, locking the screen or switching apps pauses the embedded player; that is a browser and YouTube restriction.
- Respect the creator: looping for personal practice or listening is ordinary use of the player. Do not use loops to inflate view counts, and do not try to download or redistribute content you do not own.

Frequently asked questions
How do I put a YouTube video on repeat?
Paste the video link above and press Load video. With Loop on ticked, the video restarts automatically every time it ends. On youtube.com itself you can also right-click the player and choose Loop, but that only works on desktop and cannot loop a section.
How do I loop only part of a YouTube video?
Enter a start time in Loop start (A) and an end time in Loop end (B), in minutes and seconds such as 1:05 and 1:42, or play the video and press Set to now at each point. Playback jumps back to A every time it reaches B, and the loop counter shows how many times it has repeated.
Why won't some videos play in the looper?
Uploaders can turn off embedding, and some music videos and live broadcasts are restricted to youtube.com. The player then shows error 101 or 150. Age-restricted and private videos also cannot be embedded. Open those on YouTube instead.
Can I slow down a section to learn it?
Yes. Choose a speed from 0.25x to 2x. YouTube keeps the pitch the same when you slow down, which makes it useful for learning guitar solos, dance moves, language phrases and piano passages.
Does this download the video?
No. The video streams through YouTube's official embedded player, so views, ads and the creator's settings are handled by YouTube. This page only tells the player when to jump back to the start of your loop.
How do I share a looped section?
After setting A and B, copy the Shareable loop link. It contains the video ID and your start and end times, so anyone who opens it gets the same section looping. The link also works as a bookmark.
Does the looper work on iPhone and Android?
Yes, in Safari, Chrome and other mobile browsers. Mobile browsers require a tap on the video before it plays with sound, so tap play once after loading. Screen lock or switching apps pauses playback, as with any web player.
