A random animal generator with real facts
Most animal pickers return a bare name from a short list. This one draws from 215 real species and tells you what each one is: its class, where it lives, what it eats and which part of the world it comes from. That makes each result usable straight away for a drawing prompt, a quiz question or a classroom research card.
| Class | Animals | Examples |
|---|---|---|
| Mammals | 80 | Snow leopard, capybara, platypus, orca, naked mole-rat |
| Birds | 57 | Shoebill, harpy eagle, Atlantic puffin, kiwi, northern cardinal |
| Reptiles | 22 | Komodo dragon, tuatara, leatherback sea turtle, king cobra |
| Amphibians | 10 | Axolotl, red-eyed tree frog, Chinese giant salamander |
| Fish | 22 | Coelacanth, whale shark, electric eel, ocean sunfish |
| Invertebrates | 24 | Peacock mantis shrimp, atlas moth, giant Pacific octopus |
Filters combine, so you can ask for a random rainforest carnivore, a random Australian animal (region Oceania) or a random ocean filter feeder.

Random bird generator
The Birds chip (link: ?mode=birds) draws from 57 species, from backyard birds such as the American robin, blue jay and black-capped chickadee to raptors, seabirds, parrots and flightless birds. Filter by habitat for a random water bird or forest bird, or by region for birds you might see in North America. Good for bird-watching bingo, nature journaling and field-guide practice.
Random pet generator
The Pets chip suggests one of 36 common pets with its type, care level and typical lifespan, so a surprise pet idea comes with a reality check. Filter by care level Low for beginner pets, or by type for a random reptile or small mammal. Lifespans are typical ranges in good care; individual animals vary.
Random cat breed generator
The Cat breeds chip (?mode=cats) picks from 41 recognised breeds with coat type, size and country of origin, from the large Maine Coon and Norwegian Forest Cat to the hairless Sphynx and the small Singapura. For dogs, use the dedicated random dog breed generator.
Random body part generator
The Body parts chip (?mode=body-parts) returns one of 70 human body parts tagged with its body system (skeletal, muscular, digestive, nervous and more) and region. Art students use it for focused anatomy sketching; teachers use it for vocabulary games and biology quizzes.

Common questions
How many animals are in the random animal generator?
215 real animals: 80 mammals, 57 birds, 22 reptiles, 10 amphibians, 22 fish and 24 invertebrates. There are separate lists of 36 pets, 41 cat breeds and 70 body parts.
Can I get a random animal from a specific habitat or continent?
Yes. Use the Habitat filter (for example Rainforest, Ocean or Desert) and the Region filter (Africa, Asia, Oceania, North America and so on). Filters can be combined.
Is there a random bird generator?
Yes. Click Birds or open ?mode=birds to draw from 57 bird species, with habitat, diet and region filters.
Can I generate a random cat breed or pet?
Click Cat breeds for 41 breeds with coat, size and origin, or Pets for 36 pet ideas with care level and typical lifespan.
How do I avoid getting the same animal twice?
Keep No repeats ticked. The generator remembers earlier draws and only starts over after every animal in the current filter has come up. Reset no-repeat clears that memory.
Are the animal facts accurate?
Habitat, diet and region are simplified to the main ones for each species. Region means where the animal lives in the wild, so farm animals and widespread species are marked Worldwide.
