Remove Line Breaks — Multiline to Single Line

Unwrap text that was broken at the end of every line — from a PDF, an email or a terminal — into one clean paragraph or a single line. Choose what goes between the joined lines. Runs in your browser.

Three ways to remove line breaks

ModeWhat happensUse it for
Remove line breaksEvery line break (\r\n, \n or \r) becomes the separator you choose — a space by default. Nothing else changes.A quick, exact join where spacing should stay as it is.
Multiline to single lineLine breaks and the spaces around them become one space, repeated spaces collapse, and both ends are trimmed.Addresses, SQL snippets and paragraphs for a single-line form field, CSV cell or JSON string.
Keep paragraphsLines inside a paragraph are joined, but blank lines between paragraphs stay.Unwrapping PDF or email text without losing its structure.

Fixing text copied from a PDF

PDF viewers put a hard line break at the end of every visual line, so pasted text arrives chopped into short lines — and long words split across lines keep their hyphen (“exam-” / “ple”). Choose Keep paragraphs and tick Rejoin words hyphenated at line ends: each paragraph becomes one flowing line, “exam-ple” is repaired to “example”, and the blank lines between paragraphs are preserved.

Turn a list into comma-separated values

Set Replace each line break with to A comma and a space and tick Skip empty lines to turn a column pasted from a spreadsheet into apple, banana, cherry — ready for an SQL IN (…) list, a tag field or an email.

Line break characters

Windows uses carriage return plus line feed (CRLF, \r\n), Linux and macOS use a line feed (LF, \n), and very old Mac files use a lone carriage return (\r). All three are recognised, so text from any system is joined correctly with no stray \r left behind.

Common questions

How do I remove line breaks from text?

Paste the text and the line breaks are replaced with a space straight away. Pick a different separator, such as nothing or a comma, from Replace each line break with, then copy the result.

How do I convert multiline text to a single line?

Choose Multiline to single line. Line breaks and the whitespace around them become a single space, repeated spaces are collapsed and both ends are trimmed, so the whole text sits on one line.

Can I remove line breaks but keep paragraphs?

Yes. The Keep paragraphs mode joins the lines inside each paragraph and keeps the blank line between paragraphs.

How do I fix words split with a hyphen at the end of a line?

Tick Rejoin words hyphenated at line ends. A line ending in a letter followed by a hyphen is joined to the next line without the hyphen, so “exam-” plus “ple” becomes “example”.

Does it handle Windows line breaks?

Yes. Windows CRLF (\r\n), Unix LF (\n) and old Mac CR (\r) line endings are all removed cleanly.

Is my text uploaded?

No. Line breaks are removed in your browser, and nothing is sent to a server.
