Case Converter

Convert text between eleven cases at once — UPPERCASE, lowercase, Title Case, Sentence case, camelCase, PascalCase, snake_case, kebab-case, CONSTANT_CASE, alternating and inverse. Output updates as you type; copy any line.

Title Case vs Sentence case vs style guides

StyleRuleExample
Sentence caseCapitalise the first word and proper nouns only. The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog
Title Case (this tool)Capitalise every word except a short list of articles, conjunctions and short prepositions — unless first or last. The Quick Brown Fox Jumps Over the Lazy Dog
AP styleLike Title Case, but capitalise prepositions of four letters or more (with, from, over). The Quick Brown Fox Jumps Over the Lazy Dog
Chicago styleLowercase all prepositions regardless of length; capitalise the rest. The Quick Brown Fox Jumps over the Lazy Dog

This converter leaves these words lowercase unless they start or end the title: a, an, the, and, but, or, nor, for, on, at, to, from, by, of, in. That matches common newsroom practice and is close to AP for short titles. It is a mechanical rule — AP and Chicago disagree on longer prepositions, so check the specific guide your publication follows.

Which programming case goes where

CaseLooks likeTypical use
camelCaseuserProfileIdVariables and functions in JavaScript, Java, Swift, Kotlin, C#.
PascalCaseUserProfileClass, type, component and interface names in most languages.
snake_caseuser_profile_idVariables and functions in Python, Ruby and Rust; SQL columns.
kebab-caseuser-profileCSS classes, HTML attributes, URL slugs, npm package names, CLI flags.
CONSTANT_CASEMAX_RETRY_COUNTConstants and environment variable names (DATABASE_URL).

The converter tokenises the input first — it splits at spaces, punctuation, and existing camelCase humps — so you can paste userProfileID, user-profile-id, or User Profile ID and get a clean conversion from any of them.

The “smart” title-case caveat

No mechanical title-case tool understands meaning. It cannot tell that iOS, NASA, PhD, McDonald or a brand like eBay need casing that breaks the first-letter rule, and it will “correct” them to Ios, Nasa, Phd, Mcdonald, Ebay. It also cannot know whether Apple is the company or the fruit. Convert first, then fix acronyms and proper nouns by hand — or type them correctly and use a case that does not touch interior letters.

Questions

Title Case or Sentence case for a web page heading?

Most modern product and marketing sites use Sentence case for headings; publications and formal documents use Title Case. Pick one and use it consistently.

Why is "the" capitalised at the start but not in the middle?

The small-words rule capitalises articles and short prepositions only when they are the first or last word of the title. "The" leading a title is always capitalised.

It broke my acronym — is that a bug?

No. The tool works on letter positions, not meaning, so NASA becomes Nasa in Title Case. Fix acronyms after converting.

Can I paste code in one case and get another?

Yes. It re-tokenises the input, so getUserID → get_user_id, GET-USER-ID, or Get User Id all work.

Is my text private?

Yes. Everything runs in your browser. Nothing is uploaded or stored.
