Paste an XML document and generate a best-effort XSD (XML Schema) that describes its structure, elements, attributes, and data types — entirely in your browser.
An XSD, or XML Schema Definition, describes the structure of an XML document: which elements and attributes are allowed, how they nest, what order they appear in, and what data type each value should be (string, integer, decimal, boolean, and so on). Tools, APIs, and validators use an XSD to check that an XML document is well-formed and shaped correctly before processing it.
Writing an XSD by hand is tedious, so this tool infers one automatically. It parses your sample XML in the browser, walks the element tree, and builds a matching xs:schema: leaf elements with only text become simple typed elements, elements with children or attributes become xs:complexType definitions with an xs:sequence, and any child element that repeats as a sibling gets maxOccurs="unbounded" so the schema allows lists like multiple <book> entries.
Because this is inferred from a single sample document, treat the result as a solid first draft, not a formally complete, hand-audited schema — the same approach other online XSD generators use. Review the output, adjust cardinality or types for edge cases your sample doesn't cover, and add restrictions (enumerations, patterns, min/max values) as needed for your real use case.
For each element with only text content, the generator checks the value: an integer pattern like 42 maps to xs:integer, a decimal like 9.99 maps to xs:decimal, true/false maps to xs:boolean, and everything else stays xs:string. Attribute values are typed the same way. This gives a more useful starting schema than defaulting every field to string, while staying simple and predictable.
