The jq Playground lets you inspect and filter JSON without installing command-line software. Query common paths, array values, object keys, lengths, maps, sorting, unique values, flattening, and selection expressions directly in the browser.
Start with a dot query to view the complete document, then try expressions such as .users[], keys, length, or a selection filter. Input and output remain in the current browser tab, making this a convenient private JSON query playground for API responses and log data.
Query output is formatted as JSON so it can be copied into another request, saved as a fixture, or passed to a second inspection step. Keep expressions small while learning the data shape, then combine path and filter operations to focus on the records you need.
The playground is intended for local exploration rather than a complete replacement for every jq release feature. It gives developers a quick way to inspect common JSON shapes before choosing a command-line expression or adding a query to an application.
Start with a representative example, review the output, and keep the original input when the result will be reused elsewhere. A browser tool is useful for a quick focused task, but the surrounding context still matters: check names, units, formatting, and assumptions before publishing or relying on a result in a project.
