JMESPath Playground

Query JSON locally with paths such as users[].name, length(@), keys(@), and filtered arrays like [?age > 30].name.

Query JSON with JMESPath

JMESPath is a JSON query language designed for selecting values from structured data. This playground supports common property paths, array projections such as users[].name, array filters, key lists, and length expressions so you can explore JSON data interactively online.

Use the JMESPath Playground to inspect API responses, find matching records, and extract a smaller result for debugging or documentation. Parsing and filtering happen locally in your browser, and invalid JSON or unsupported expressions are reported without sending your data to a server.

JMESPath expressions are especially helpful when a response contains nested collections and only a few fields are needed. Validate the extracted result before using it in a script, report, test case, or API documentation example.

The expression field is case-sensitive and property names must match the input data. Start with a top-level property, confirm the result, and then add an array projection or comparison so an unexpected empty result is easy to diagnose.

Use the copy control to move a checked result into another local development workflow.

Using this tool well

Start with a representative example, review the output, and keep the original input when the result will be reused elsewhere. A browser tool is useful for a quick focused task, but the surrounding context still matters: check names, units, formatting, and assumptions before publishing or relying on a result in a project.
