Excel Viewer Online

Open and view .xlsx, .xls, and .csv files as a readable table — entirely in your browser. Nothing is uploaded.

Your file is read and parsed locally using JavaScript in this browser tab. It is never uploaded, sent to a server, or stored anywhere.

About this Excel viewer

This tool opens .xlsx, .xls, and .csv files and displays their contents as a table you can scroll and read, without any software install and without an upload step. When you choose a file, the browser reads it directly using the FileReader API and parses it with the SheetJS library, both running as JavaScript inside the current tab. The file's bytes never leave your device — there is no server call, no upload, and no external storage involved.

Workbooks with more than one sheet get a sheet selector (tabs and a dropdown) so you can switch between them; the first sheet loads by default. For very large sheets, only the first 2,000 rows are rendered to keep the page responsive — the row count and a truncation note are shown so you know when a sheet has been cut off. This is meant for quickly inspecting a spreadsheet's contents, checking column headers, or spot-checking data before importing it elsewhere — for structured data extraction, pair it with Excel to JSON or Excel to HTML.

Using this tool well

Start with a representative example, review the output, and keep the original input when the result will be reused elsewhere. A browser tool is useful for a quick focused task, but the surrounding context still matters: check names, units, formatting, and assumptions before publishing or relying on a result in a project.
